Thermochemical investigation

Abstract: The stoiehiometry of the thermal decomposition and the stereochemistry of the foUowing compounds was studied: NiR4Ct2 (I), NiR4Br2 (lI), NiR412.2H20 (III) and NiR4(NCS)2 (IV) (R=3-pyridylcarbinol, ronicol). In complexes I and II the loss of the volatile ligands (on the TG curves) occurs in three steps (-2R, -R, -R), in complex III in four steps (-2H20, -2R, -R, -R) and in complex (IV) in one step (-4R). According to the quasi-equilibrium decomposition temperatures, the thecmodynamic stability of NiR4X2 complex… Show more

“…The reveal of the relationship between the structure and thermolysis of metal complexes, the study of the influence of metal and ligand nature upon the process of thermal decomposition is of the interests [6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]. It is not surprising therefore, that many authors have investigated the nature of metal and ligand bonds by examination of their thermal and spectral properties [14][15][16][17].…”

“…First row transition metal elements play important role in human life [1] and chemists are interested in co-ordination compounds for their application in industrial and synthetic processes, such as chemical, biological, environmental, ionexchange catalysis, photochemistry, and biological applications, Moreover their thermal, spectral, microscopic and many other properties have also been examined [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10].…”

“…Thiocyanate has a special place among small anionic ligands. Its role in thermal deamination-anation reactions of many transition metal complexes in solid state has been studied [1][2][3][4][5] and the kinetics of these reactions has been reviewed [6]. We have recently synthesized a series of trans-[Co(acacen)(amine) 2 ]NCS complexes (acacen=N,N'ethylenebis(acetylacetoneiminato) dianion) [7], and studied the kinetics of their deamination-anation reactions by thermogravimetric techniques and IR spectroscopy [8].…”
