Thiol‐Functionalized Organic Porous Polymers as a Support for Gold Nanoparticles and Its Catalytic Applications

Abstract: In this work, a novel synthesis approach of gold nanohybrid materials (Au/SH‐OPPs) is demonstrated using the thiol‐functionalized organic porous polymers (SH‐OPPs) as a support by a combination of hyper‐cross‐linking and molecular templating of functionalized bottlebrush copolymers. HAuCl4 as the gold source is in situ reduced to produce Au nanoparticles based on the strong action of gold with the thiol groups. The monodispersed Au nanoparticles are anchored on the SH‐OPPs with the small average particle size … Show more

“…The stabilizing influence of the sulfur group on the Au NPs due to the Au−S bond formation was also reported elsewhere. 149 The Au/PTPA catalyst showed exceptionally high activity in the 4-NP reduction (rate constant of 0.75 min −1 ) as well as in the reduction of Congo red and MB using NaBH 4 with significant preservation of the activity in a repeated use. A hyper-cross-linked polymer enriched with phosphorus and sulfur and containing Ru NPs allowed for high yields of various aminoarenes (prepared by nitroarene reduction with NaBH 4 ), but reactions were very slow.…”
