Third-order S-matrix study of electron-electron correlation in nonsequential double ionization

Abstract: Correlated electron momentum distribution of nonsequential double ionization of a Ne atom in intense laser fields is calculated using a third-order S-matrix formalism which takes into account the interaction between the Coulomb potential of the parent ion and the photoelectrons. Compared to the second-order S-matrix calculation, the correlation distributions of the two processes which take into account the effect of the ionic Coulomb potential on either of the two ionized electrons after their collision tend t… Show more

“…A considerable number of quantum mechanical models are based on the solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation [81,[86][87][88][89][90][91][92][93]. Several works applied the strong-field approximation [94] and the intense-field many-body S-matrix [39] theory [95][96][97][98][99][100][101][102][103]. The so-called quantitative rescattering (QRS) theory [104] proved to be an efficient description of NSDI [105][106][107].…”

“…Multiple rescattering processes also play an important role in HHG in an intense laser field [13-15]. In addition, multiplereturn-collision (MRC) trajectories have been explored in NSDI with linearly [16,17] or elliptically [18][19][20], polarized laser field in recent years, in which sub-cycle dynamics was investigated and Coulomb-potential effects was considered to play an indispensable role.…”

“…The knee structure has been simulated in numerical works, using classical ensemble [34][35][36][37][38], S-matrix [39,40] and numerical solution of 1D TDSE [41,42]. In this work, we present a full quantum mechanical approach for a He atom with two interacting electrons under the radiations of femtosecond laser pulses with various intensities.…”
