“…Ptychography is an extension of CXDI introducing an additional overlap constraint in real space but is otherwise similar so the MH constraint can be used as discussed. The sample is highly strained but also contains antiphase domain boundaries (ADBs) with associated phase steps (Kim et al, 2018a). Near the ADBs, additional phase variations are expected due to lattice distortions and atomic rearrangements.…”

“…A full 3D Bragg ptychography data set was taken on the (001) superlattice reflection with 001 = 17.55 , which is sensitive to both the ADBs and general lattice strain (Marcinkowski & Brown, 1962;Stadler et al, 2007). Further details about the Bragg ptychography experiment are given by Kim et al (2018a). A combination of two different methods, namely the ordered subset (OS) and conjugated gradient (CG) algorithms, was applied as the main CXDI phase retrieval algorithm in the ptychographic reconstruction (Godard et al, 2012) and the effect of the MH constraint was evaluated.…”

“…To date, BP with 3D spatial resolution of 10–50 nm, and strain resolution on the order of 10 −4 has been demonstrated 28 , 29 , and applied to complex problems in material science, e.g. anti-phase domain boundaries in a metallic alloy 30 , stacking faults and strain fields in semiconductor quantum wire 31 , 32 and crystalline domains in biominerals 33 . The advent of 4th generation synchrotrons, where BP will become available at several beamlines, should provide broader access to this microscopy method.…”

“…Here, we present a visualization of the phase boundaries inside the particles and the rounding effect of crystal facets of AuNi nanoparticles under laser irradiation by using coherent X-ray diffraction imaging (CXDI) (Ayyer et al, 2016;Ulvestad et al, 2015;Lo et al, 2018;Mastropietro et al, 2017;Donnelly et al, 2017;Kim et al, 2018). The pulsed laser annealing transforms phase-separated AuNi nanoparticles to metastable mixed AuNi alloy nanoparticles.…”
