“…VC-NS shows a small charge transfer resistance (R ct ) of $19.0 Ω cm 2 when an overpotential of 100 mV is applied. It is smaller than those of VC-P ( $ 98.3 Ω cm 2 ) and other electrocatalysts reported previously including three-dimensional ordered macro-/mesoporous Ni (33 Ω cm 2 ) [53], indicating highly conductive and fast proton discharge kinetics of the as-prepared hierarchical VC-NS electrocatalyst.…”

“…The resultant nanoporous nickel exhibits ultrahigh HER catalytic activity (Fig.3g) with a small Tafel slope of 58.5 mV dec -1 (Fig. 3h), which is comparable to those obtained for nanostructured nickel based HER catalysts in alkaline media, such as Ni-P nanoparticles loaded on Cu foam (55 mV dec -1 ), 32 3D ordered macro-/ mesoporous Ni (52 mV dec -1 ), 33 and nanoscale NiO/Ni-CNT loaded on Ni foam (51 mV dec -1 ). 34 …”

“…In addition, various mesoporous carbons, metals, [72] oxides, [73,74] sulfides, [75,76] carbides, [77] nitrides, [78] selenides, [79] phosphides [80] or their composites [73,81] and metal/covalentorganic frameworks (MOFs/COFs) [82] have been synthesized and evaluated as competitive alternatives to replace Pt. Miao and co-workers reported mesoporous FeS 2 applied as an electrocatalyst for HER, achieving the remarkable HER performance with a small Tafel slope of 78 mV dec −1 and superior long-term stability.…”
