To Study Clinical and Hematological Profile of Patients with Acute Leukemia at Tertiary Care Centre in North India

Abstract

Introduction: Leukemias are group of hematological malignancies broadly divided into acute and chronic leukemia. Clinical presentation vary from nonspecific symptoms to life threatening manifestations and constitute about0.15 to 0.6 % of total hospital admissions in India. Aims: To study clinical and hematological features and immunophenotyping in patients with acute leukemia. Material and Methods : Observational study at tertiary care teaching hospital in north India. Patients (new) diagnosed as cases of acute leukemia admitted over period of one year were included in study. Results and Summary: Fifty newly diagnosed case were evaluated in this study. Patients were diagnosed on basis of presenting features and laboratory studies including complete hemogram, bone marrow examination and Immunophenotyping. Immunophenotyping correlated well with morphological and cytological features.
