Torsional Oscillation Problems Associated with Shunt Induction Motor Driving Distributed Inertias

Abstract

Shunt co nnectio n has bee n recently pro po sed by the autho rs to attain fast starting o f slip-ring inductio n motors. Torsion al to rque s, whic h might be e xpe rie nced with this co nnectio n, is a re se rvatio n of this method and should be investigated. T here fo re , this pape r analyze s the e xpec ted torsio nal problems o f the shafts o f these motors whe n driving distributed inertias. T he analysis aims at investigatin g the develo ped pulsating torque, the re sulting torsio nal osc illations, the transmitted torque s, and the twist angles at di OE ere nt shaft sections. E OE ec ts of moto r paramete rs on the to rsio nal o sc illation proble m are studied. Fo r this purpose , a rigo ro us mathe matical mode l is pre sented and simulated by a deve loped computer program.
