Towards Change Propagating Test Models in Autonomic and Adaptive Systems

Abstract: Autonomic and adaptive computing systems can add, remove, and replace their own components in response to a changing environment. Self-adaptation facilitates the performance of automated maintenance and configuration tasks, but makes it possible for faults to be introduced into the software at runtime. To address this issue, researchers have developed approaches for integrating runtime testing into autonomic and adaptive software systems. An important aspect of runtime testing approaches for autonomic software … Show more

“…Figure 1: Classes of field testing approaches Classic in-house (in-vitro) testing is a well understood discipline with studies that span many decades: The first specialized workshop dates back to the mid seventies. 1 Research in field testing has emerged fairly recently and has not been comprehensively surveyed as a discipline yet.…”

“…A model-driven approach was used in [46] to map the structural adaptations in autonomic software, metamodel and a workflow were provided to support the approach, a prototype was also developed to imitate a reductive change to an autonomic, service-oriented healthcare application. Big data were used in [56], where a smart system was built to control the lights in Yarmouk university museum.…”
