“…Since climate change led to more frequent extreme events, the impact of natural disasters on regional resilience has been the object of recent scrutiny. Extant literature shows a more limited resilience to seismic events for territories with lower GDP per capita and higher levels of interconnections and interdependencies among local infrastructures ( Du et al, 2023 , Lu, Li et al, 2022 ). Similarly, higher levels of investments in flood prevention projects, a higher level of wealth, lower precipitation levels and larger availability of hospital beds are connected with better resilience performances to floods at the regional level ( Liu et al, 2020 , Liu et al, 2021 ).…”

“…The concept of regional resilience has been investigated under the economic perspective, highlighting that larger immigration flows, economy diversification, governance innovation, technological variety, knowledge network, quality of institutions, availability of skilled human capital and supportive financial systems are key drivers to reduce the vulnerability of territories to external shocks ( Boschma, 2015 , Corodescu-Roşca et al, 2023 , Hassink, 2010 , Huang, 2022 , Simmie and Martin, 2010 , Tan et al, 2020 ). In line with such literature, we exploit economic, environmental, demographic and social drivers ( Cardoni et al, 2021 , Hu et al, 2022 , Lin et al, 2022 , Liu et al, 2020 , Liu et al, 2021 , Lu, Li et al, 2022 , Lu, Zhang et al, 2022 , Tan et al, 2020 , Ye et al, 2022 ) to explain the economic resilience of Italian municipalities. Furthermore, differently from extant studies, we use mobility network centrality indicators due to the key role of mobility in the spread of contagion and for the resilience of economic activities.…”

“…So far, the research results on resilience at home and abroad are quite informative. In terms of research fields, they have gradually expanded from a single natural ecosystem [14][15][16][17][18] to a relatively complex social-ecological system [19][20][21][22][23]; In terms of research contents, they have enriched the research content of resilience from the conceptual connotation of resilience [24,25], comprehensive assessment [26][27][28][29] and influencing factors [30][31][32], and broadened the application scope of resilience [33][34][35]; In terms of research methods, they have developed from qualitative study [36][37][38] to a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods such as comprehensive index method [39,40], econometric methods [41,42]. The fruitful research results on resilience have provided theoretical and methodological references for deconstructing the resilience of the community human settlement system.…”
