Towards Delivering Context-Aware Transportation User Services

Abstract: Abstract-ITS architectures encourage integration of individual intelligent transportation systems into comprehensive platforms and enable sharing of information across a wide variety of systems and services. This paper presents a spatial programming model that has been designed as part of the iTransIT ITS framework to provide a standardized way to build value-added transportation user services and ultimately to deliver contextual transportation information to users. The spatial programming model is based on a … Show more

“…The use of the CA methodology in ITS could provide a rich service environment since it could be used to build ITS applications adapted to the demands of the passengers' requirements using the available transportation data such as [3][4][5]. In fact, the context awareness ITS applications are built based on collecting data from different sources such vehicles on the roads, passengers, GPS, etc.…”

“…The iTransIT framework implements the spatial programming model [2], that enables pervasive transport services such as STIS, and provides a focus for the integration of distributed transport information. A Spatial Application Programming Interface (SAPI) allows the STIS service to access the transport data in a common format, regardless of the type of transport data being requested.…”

“…En primer lugar, de uso de transporte multimodal. Por ejemplo, (Meier et al, 2006) describen un servicio de planificación de transporte multimodal en Dublín de apoyo al transeúnte, que captura información de contexto de redes específicamente desplegadas para ello y de infraestructura ya existente (semáforos, datos de tráfico, etc.). El objetivo es ofrecer una combinación óptima al pasajero y apoyo en la localización de las paradas.…”
