Abstract:Spark-Less-Amplification-Microstructures are a new type of gaseous detectors, which should
allow overcoming the discharge limitations of the current MPGD technologies. Preliminary studies
revealed that sparks usually appear in the narrow region of the amplification gap, where the
electric field lines are parallel to each other. The SLAM detector is specifically designed to
overcome these disadvantageous regions by ensuring radial electric fields in the anode region of
the avalanche gap.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
