Towards Merging Context-Aware, Mobile and Grid Computing

Abstract: ISAM is a proposal directed to supporting physical and logical mobility, context-awareness, dynamic adaptation and the execution of large-scale distributed applications. In order to achieve its goals, ISAM uses, as strategy, an integrated environment that provides: (a) a programming language; (b) an execution environment; (c) a context recognition server. The integration is accomplished through an adaptation process that uses a multilevel collaborative model, in which both the system and the application contri… Show more

“…In order to coordinate the actions a model is used based on blackboard architecture. In further works [166] [167] they propose to apply a programming model specifically designed for the specification of context-aware applications, based on holoparadigm. It is intended to simplify the mobility management and the implementation of C-AS.…”

“…The ContextProvider component abstracts the access to the context middleware. Figure 8 shows three possibilities of middleware which could be accessed by the application: LOCAL (Barbosa et al, 2011), EXEHDA (Yamin et al, 2003) and ContextToolkit (Salber et al, 1999). The KnowledgeBase component abstracts the access to the Profile Repository service and to the Lexical Knowledge Base service.…”

“…Examples of context-aware grid adaptation such as [6,15,16] apply location, time, or data on scheduled jobs, but neglect the interdependencies arising from joint activities. Scientific workflows for grids [3,8] model dependencies to some extent but cannot be applied in situations that demand for ad-hoc changes.…”
