Towards replacing physical testing of granular materials with a Topology-based Model

Abstract: Fig. 1: We derive a pore network model from topological decomposition and connectivity to estimate the flow properties through a packed powder bed imaged by micro-CT. From left to right: Regions are selected from the raw micro-CT images, and the pore network model is computed; The fluid flow is solved by converting it to a resistive network, which allows the analysis of flow paths, flow through pores, and flow-permeable surface area, all of which correlate to the performance characteristics of porous solids.
