Tracing interaction between hydrocarbon and groundwater systems with isotope signatures preserved in the Anyue gas field, central Sichuan Basin, China

Abstract: Anyue gas field is a large gas field located in the central Sichuan Basin, China. Although many studies have been carried out previously, the formation mechanism of this field is unclear and currently under debate. To better understand the accumulation history, the role that groundwater plays in transporting hydrocarbons within sedimentary basins and water-gas interactions, stable and noble gas isotopes were measured in thirteen free gas samples from the Anyue gas field. In addition, nine formation water sampl… Show more

“…Samples were first partially crushed until the sample was heard to fragment and then fully crushed when the valve tip was fully extended. Samples were purified and analyzed following the procedures of Li et al (2020). A blank and an air standard were analyzed for each sample (see Supplemental Material 1 ).…”

“…Gaoshiti, Moxi, and Gaoshitinan. In a macroscopic view, the Gaoshiti-Moxi area presents a sequence of paleogeographic distribution from east to west of the karst platform, karst slope, and karst lowland, and various secondary microgeographic units are developed inside the karst platform [35][36][37]. On the other hand, the distribution differences of the microgeographic units in the Gaoshiti and Moxi areas are also obvious.…”
