“…This is called interpersonal mindfulness when an individual is present in the moment throughout his communication with another person (Pratscher et al, 2018). There are some studies in the literature reporting that forgiveness facilitates and improves interpersonal relationships (Alpay, 2009;Ayten, 2009;Johns et al, 2015;Kadiangandu et al, 2007;Worthington, 1998); there is a significant positive correlation between forgiveness and mindfulness (Braun et al, 2020;Eyring et al, 2021;Foulk et al, 2017;Johns et al, 2015;Orcutt et al, 2005;Roberts et al, 2021;Webb et al, 2013;Zümbül, 2019) and mindfulness predicts forgiveness (Fuente-Anuncibay et al, 2021;Lewis, 2017;Pizarro-Ruiz et al, 2021).…”

“…Following mindfulness-based interventions, individuals more often "relate mindfully" than before (e.g., being responsive to others and aware of automatic reactions; Bihari & Mullan, 2014, p. 56). Compared to nonparticipants, participants showed more empathy, positive mood, and attitudes toward forgiveness (Block-Lerner et al, 2007;Roberts et al, 2021). Mindful individuals better manage negative emotions, communicate better, experience fewer physiological impacts from partner's negative behaviors, and demonstrate commitment, respect, and support, even in distressed environments (Barnes et al, 2007;Laurent et al, 2016;Wachs & Cordova, 2007).…”

“…As a foundation for ethical responsiveness, mindfulness may improve relationships by encouraging important relational processes (Pratscher et al, 2018). For example, mindfulness is positively correlated with interpersonal skills and behaviors, which are related to positive relational outcomes, including good communication (Burgoon et al, 2000), identification and description of feelings (Dekeyser et al, 2008), empathy (Dekeyser et al, 2008), forgiveness (Roberts et al, 2021), use of more adaptive styles and less maladaptive humor styles (Khramtsova & Chuykova, 2016), and positive conflict resolution strategies (Gesell et al, 2020).…”
