Transcriptome data of Epinephelus fuscoguttatus infected by Vibrio vulnificus

Abstract: Vibriosis disease by Vibrio spp. greatly reduced productivity of aquaculture, such as brown-marbled grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus), which is an economically important fish species in Malaysia. Preventive measures and immediate treatment are critical to reduce the mortality of E. fuscoguttatus from vibriosis. To investigate the molecular mechanisms associated with immune response and host-bacteria interaction, a transcriptomic analysis was performed to compare between healthy and Vibrio-infected groupers. … Show more

“…With the advancement and improvement of sequencing technologies, genome and transcriptome sequencing has become the approached method in understanding microbial interactions with the environment [ 58 , 59 ], animal hosts [ 60 ] and plant hosts [ 61 , 62 ]. Currently, the genomes of five pathogenic strains of G. boninense have been sequenced: two strains isolated from Indonesia, i.e., the strains NJ3 and G3 [ 63 , 64 ]; and three strains isolated from Malaysia, i.e., PER71, BRIUMSc [ 65 ] and FGV-M [ 66 ].…”

“…Meanwhile, in our previous study, Illumina HiSeq TM 4000 was used to obtain the raw transcriptome data before it was trimmed to a total of 437,186,232 clean read sequences. With this transcriptome data, the immune-related genes that play roles in the immune response mechanisms of Epinephelus fuscoguttatus against Vibrio vulnificus infection can be determined (Jazamuddin et al, 2018). As in Epinephelus coioides, gene Bcl-2-associated anthanogene 5 (BAG5) which known as a molecular chaperone can bind to the Bcl-2 and modulate the cell survival of the fish.…”
