Abstract:Sedimentation is a major cause of global near-shore coral reef decline. While negative impacts of sedimentation on coral reef community composition have been well documented, the effects of sedimentation on coral metabolismin situhave received comparatively little attention. Using transcriptomics, we identified gene expression patterns changing across a previously defined sedimentation threshold that was deemed critical due to changes in coral cover and community composition. We identified genes, pathways, and… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
