Transformation of current limiting effect into varistor effect in tin dioxide based ceramics

Abstract

The current limiting effect and its transformation into the varistor effect were found in SnO2–Co3O4–Nb2O5–Cr2O3 ceramics sintered at relatively low temperatures 1100–1200 °C. Results of electrical measurements in oxidizing and inert atmosphere are explained in terms of the modified barrier model.
