Abstract: The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) has long been referred to as a procedure performed as ?a bridge to transplantation? since, like many other portosystemic shunts, it decompresses the portal circulation and stabilizes patients but does not definitively treat portal hypertension.
