Abstract:Transperineal prostate biopsy is recelvlOg renewed scientific interest. Although neglected for several decades in favor of transrectal ultrasound biopsy, the transperineal procedure continues to have a minor, but defined and specific role in prostate cancer diagnosis. It is an effective procedure for detection and has a low incidence of infective complications. This chapter illustrates the technique and surgical approach for transperineal biopsy. Comparison of the two procedures is offered.
