<sec><title>Purpose</title><p>Transpulmonary thermodilution (TPTD) is usually performed by jugular indicator injection. In clinical practice, femoral venous access is often used instead, resulting in substantial overestimation of global end-diastolic volume index (GEDVI). A correction formula compensates for that.
