Transverse sacral fractures and concomitant late-diagnosed cauda equina syndrome

Abstract: Transverse sacral fractures in young patients occur with high-energy mechanisms. Because of the drawbacks in radiographic and neurologic evaluations of the sacral area in polytrauma patients, misdiagnosis is quite common.
