Abstract:Two papers in this issue provide new structural insights into the "TRAnsport Protein Particle" (TRAPP) complexes, which play crucial roles in Golgi function. Both papers focus on TRAPPIII, which activates the Rab protein Ypt1 in yeast or the homologous Rab1 in metazoans. The structures illuminate how TRAPPIII specifically recognizes its Rab protein substrate. Joiner et al (2021) also describe a membrane-anchoring mechanism for yeast TRAPPIII, while Galindo et al (2021) characterize the large subunits that defi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
