“…Due to insufficient background information on PM 10 , understanding its behavior and the relationship with other environmental variables would assist policy makers to define more realistic control strategies in the future. In the initial stage, an investigation of the relations between the pollutant concentrations with some key meteorological factors would be the first diagnostic step as it is widely known that the weather conditions strongly affect the air pollution levels in an urban environment (Kallos et al, 1993;McGregor, 1996;Incecik, 1996;Datar et al, 1996;Cheng and Lam, 1998). The present study aims to reveal the general behavior of PM 10 concentration and to relate its variation with the seasonal changes of the local climate so that typical weather types, which may bring upon Macau heavy PM 10 pollution, are identified.…”

“…A large number of local networks are operated in several countries, which address specific scientific questions, abatement strategies and pollution issues. In various countries like Europe, North America regional networks are functioning and documenting spatial and long term trends in deposition of acidic materials [17].…”

“…During 1970During -1990, in India, the regions with lower pH values of rainwater have been increasing gradually but AR has still not been considered a threat in the country (Sridharan and Saksena 1990). Datar et al (1996) assessed the annual precipitation volume-weighted means of monthly collected rainwater samples from 10 Background Air Pollution Monitoring Network (BAPMoN) stations between 1973 and 1990. The study revealed that the pH of rainwater is decreasing in almost all stations but reductions in mean values were not significant (Datar et al 1996) (Table 5).…”
