Tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane as an efficient catalyst in the guanylation reaction of amines

Abstract: Tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane, [B(C6F5)3], has been used as an efficient catalyst in the guanylation reaction of amines with carbodiimide under mild conditions. A combined approach involving NMR spectroscopy and DFT calculations was employed to gain a better insight into the mechanistic features of this process. The results allowed us to propose a new Lewis acid-assisted Brønsted acidic pathway for the guanylation reaction. The process starts with the interaction of tris(pentafluorphenyl)borane and the amine t… Show more

“…41 Their reactivity with CO, CO 2 , isocyanides and other small molecules has been well established, [42][43][44] primarily applied in the context of CO/CO 2 hydroboration using a variety of heteroallylic derivatives to support the borane. [45][46][47][48][49][50][51][52] Herein, we report the synthesis of 1,1′-bis(boramidinate) ferrocene FLPs derived from the reaction of the 1,1′-dicarbodii-midoferrocene scaffold with 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (9-BBN) (2 & 4) (Scheme 2) and bis-pentafluorophenyl borane [(C 6 F 5 ) 2 BH] 2 (11) (Scheme 5). The reactivity of these compounds towards CO, CO 2 and CNtBu was studied, ultimately leading to the sequential capture of CO and CO 2 (17) and of CO 2 and CNtBu (19) by the same molecule (11).…”
