TRIZ-based Systematic Device Trimming: Theory and Application

Soğuk püskürtme, katı tozların yakınsak/ıraksak türde bir nozul vasıtasıyla altlığa doğru hızlandırıldığı bir katı hal biriktirme işlemidir. Kaplama birikimi püskürtülen parçacıkları ergitmeden gerçekleşir. Püskürtülen parçacıklar yüksek kinetik enerjiye sahip olduğu için çarpma esnasında altlığa yapışır. Başarılı bir yapışma sağlamak için toz parçacıkların, kendi malzeme özelliklerine bağlı olan kritik hız değerini çarpma esnasında aşması gereklidir. Metaller, seramikler, kompozitler ve polimerler gibi farklı malzemeler soğuk püskürtme kullanılarak biriktirilebilir. Soğuk püskürtme, yüzey kaplaması elde etmek için yeni ve gelecek vaat eden bir teknolojidir ve biriktirme için termal enerji yerine kinetik enerji kullandığından termal püskürtmeye göre çeşitli teknolojik avantajlar sunar. Sonuç olarak, kalıntı gerilmeler, oksidasyon ve istenmeyen kimyasal reaksiyonlar önlenebilir. Soğuk püskürtme teknolojisi endüstride birçok uygulama alanına sahiptir. Birçok endüstride kullanılan bileşenlerin korunması ve onarımı amacıyla geliştirilmiştir. Son yıllarda soğuk püskürtme işlemi elektronik sistemlerin tamiri, eklemeli imalat, kaynak, sert lehimleme, yüzey koruma, tıbbi cihazlar ve tıbbi malzemeler gibi uygulama alanlarında kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışma, soğuk püskürtme işleminin tarihsel gelişimini, temel ilkelerini ve özelliklerini, yapışma mekanizmasını ve endüstriyel uygulama alanlarını kısaca gözden geçirerek soğuk püskürtme işlemini özetlemektedir.

Converting customer needs into specific forms and providing consumers with services are crucial in product design. Currently, conversion is no longer difficult due to the development of modern technology, and various measures can be applied for product realization, thus increasing the complexity of analysis and evaluation in the design process. The focus of the design process has thus shifted from problem solving to minimizing the total amount of information content. This paper presents a New Hybrid Axiomatic Design (AD) Methodology based on iteratively matching and merging design parameters that meet the independence axiom and attribute constraints by applying trimming technology, the ideal final results, and technology evolution theory. The proposed method minimizes the total amount of information content and improves the design quality. Finally, a case study of a rehabilitation robot design for hemiplegic patients is presented. The results indicate that the iterative matching and merging of related attributes can minimize the total amount of information content, reduce the cost, and improve design efficiency. Additionally, evolutionary technology prediction can ensure product novelty and improve market competitiveness. The methodology provides an excellent way to design a new (or improved) product.

Using Product Design Strategies to Implement Circular Economy: Differences between Students and Professional Designers

Different studies in the scientific literature have shown how the transition towards a circular economy (CE) can benefit from product design, although maintaining a rather broad and qualitative perspective of analysis. This study investigates and compares which product design strategies (from routinely design, structural optimization, industrial design and systematic innovation) are most used by students and professional designers to implement different CE strategies (i.e., waste reduction, reuse, remanufacturing, recycling and biodegradability). Students’ data were collected from year projects and MSc degree theses based on real industrial case studies and carried out in two Italian engineering universities, while those of professional designers, were collected from selected scientific articles. Among the main outcomes emerged that the design strategies deriving from systematic innovation were preferred by students quite clearly. The design strategies referred to industrial design, e.g., user-centered design and timeless design were preferred by professional designers. The design strategies related to routine design, i.e., materials substitution, reducing resources and energy consumption, and structural optimization, were indistinctly used by both students and professional designers. The obtained results and their discussion can be useful during eco-design teaching to show the main gaps that students should fill in comparison with professional designers.
