A novel functionalized Santa barbara amorphous (SBA)‐15 mesoporous silica has been prepared as a catalyst and characterized using X‐ray diffraction spectroscopy, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, temperature programmed desorption, N2 adsorption analysis, and differential thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The yield of the catalyst has been investigated by synthesizing a wide range of polyfunctionalized pyridopyrimidines. This method provides several advantages including excellent yields in short times, the reusability of the catalyst, low catalyst loading, and mild reaction conditions.
