Two New HPLC Methods, Assessed by GAPI, for Simultaneous Determination of Four Antipsychotics in Pharmaceutical Formulations: A Comparative Study

Abstract: Antipsychotics are widely used to treat various mental disorders. Combination therapies were approved by the FDA to treat manic states. Quetiapine fumarate, aripiprazole, asenapine maleate, and chlorpromazine HCl are frequently used for treatment of these disorders. Green analytical chemistry is primarily concerned with reducing waste generated during sample preparation or analysis. Green solvents, such as ethanol, are being used in HPLC as an alternative to acetonitrile. To this purpose, two new chromatograph… Show more

“…The evaluation of analytical techniques aids in reducing the environmental damage that these activities produce. For instance, typical HPLC systems can produce 0.5L of organic waste on a daily average [21][22][23]. In 2018 [24].…”

“…This chapter gives an overview of certain publications, from 2018 to date, concerning the use of ethanol-based HPLC mobile phase in pharma analysis. In 2022, a comparative study of two HPLC methods for the determination of four antipsychotics (quetiapine fumarate, aripiprazole, asenapine maleate, and chlorpromazine hydrochloride) was published [26]. The authors developed one green and one conventional RP-HPLC method for the determination of these antipsychotics in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations (Quitapex®, Asenapine®, Aripiprazole®, and Neurazine® tablets).…”
