Abstract:This paper presents a two-section near traveling wave optical amplifier used as an external modulator accomplishing phase modulation. A DPSK heterodyne system has been simulated and the eye diagram has been obtained by numerical large-signal analysis at 0.5 and 2.5 Gbit/s. The analysis shows how it is possible to carry out high bit rate by adjustment of the ratio of the modulation currents of two sections. This device can have an important impact on broadband optical networks.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
