Abstract:The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) among children and adolescents is on the rise and this correlates well with increasing prevalence of obesity and overweight worldwide. T2DM was thought to be a disease of the adults, however this has since changed. High index of suspicion is required especially in obese children with family history of type T2DM.
