Type IA endoleak caused by interlocked suprarenal bare-metal stents after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair with successful endovascular rescue
Abstract:A physically active 90-year-old man underwent endovascular repair of an asymptomatic but enlarging abdominal aortic aneurysm. Postoperative computed tomography demonstrated entanglement of nonadjacent proximal bare-metal stents. This was associated with graft infolding and a type IA endoleak. The patient underwent percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and placement of a Palmaz stent. Subsequent surveillance imaging showed resolution of the type I endoleak >1 year later. This report demonstrates an uncommon cau… Show more
“…[48] These stents showed the long-term durability for type IA endoleak, [49] the continuous blood flow in aneurysm sac. [50] Palmaz-Schatz stents show high plastic strain and low recoil, which make them ideal strut shape for maximum expansion. [43] In addition, six stents were considered recoiling as compared with six modified models.…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
