An Aluminium composite metal, Al-Cu-CP was fabricated from recycled raw materials. The composite was fabricated by means of stir casting method due to its simplicity and economic worth. The composite and the unreinforced Al were both analysed for chemical and mechanical properties. The Al-Cu-CP metal composite produced has shown appreciable level of wear resistance and corrosion resistance in artificial seawater (3.5 g/L NaCl) and allowed to stand for 96 h at room temperature. Different loads were considered for the wear resistance tests, 5 N, 10 N, 15 N and 20 N while 150 rpm, 250 rpm, 350 rpm and 450 rpm were the speeds selected for the adhesive wear resistance test. Improved properties were observed after heat treatment of the Al-Cu-CP metal composite. The heat treated composite was more resistant to corrosion than the untreated composite and it has been confirmed that the corrosion resistance of the materials under study has direct relationship with the immersion period. When the maximum load was applied to the three (3) sets of the samples (unreinforced, treated and treated composites), severe degrees of wear manifested on their various surfaces. Optical images from morphological analysis revealed that wear severity was highest on the surface of the unreinforced matrix, followed by the untreated metal composite and the heat-treated composite was found to be the least affected. Due to these enhanced properties of the Al-Cu-CP metal composite, it could be recommended where high strength with light density product is required such as automobile brake shoes and brake disc as a result of its upgraded mechanical properties.

Aluminum (Al) scrap reinforced with copper (Cu) chips and fine cullet powder (CP) were used to produce aluminum copper cullet (Al-Cu-CP) composite by direct recycling via stir casting method. The Al-Cu-CP composites were fabricated at 800 °C with 5 wt% of reinforcements and at various holding times. The Al composites were investigated through density And microhardness tests. X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique was used to ascertain the chemical composition of the products and also to examine the orientation of the constituent elements in the composites. The densities of the fabricated composites were found to be very similar to one another. Whereas, the results for microhardness test has shown an increasing order from 30 minutes holding time to 60 minutes and declined drastically within 75 minutes to 90 minutes. The XRD results revealed that the chemical composition of the composites were identical but the intensity of the strongest peaks at (111) were varied from one another with the composite fabricated at 60 minutes having the highest peak as well as the smallest d-spacing.

Identification of string junction states of pure SU (2) Seiberg-Witten theory as B-branes wrapped on a Calabi-Yau manifold in the geometric engineering limit is discussed. The wrapped branes are known to correspond to objects in the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on the projective line È 1 in this limit. We identify the pronged strings with triangles in the underlying triangulated category using Π-stability. The spiral strings in the weak coupling region are interpreted as certain projective resolutions of the invertible sheaves. We discuss transitions between the spiral strings and junctions using the grade introduced for Π-stability through the central charges of the corresponding objects.

U Duality and Network Configurations of Branes

Abstract: We explicitly write down the invariant supersymmetry conditions for branes with generic values of moduli and U-duality charges in various space-time dimensions D ≤ 10. We then use these results to obtain new BPS states, corresponding to network type structure of such branes.
