Über Bakterienlipoide. 3. Untersuchung verschiedener Lipoidfraktionen vonSalmonella paratyphiC

Show more

“…Chromatography and cochromatography with lysine (LYS) or alanine (ALA) of the phospholipid (PL) fraction of Lactobacillus casei, L. plantarum, and Leuconostoc mesenteroides. Stahl's method of thinlayer chromatography on silica gel was carried out in chloroform-methanol-water (65:25:4) according to Wagner, Horhammer, and Wolff (1961 constituent, the presence of this amino acid along with other amino acids was reported in the phospholipids of Salmonella ballerup (Cmelik, 1953) and S. paratyphi (Cmelik, 1954). The presence of the related amino acids, hydroxylysine in the phospholipid fraction of Mycobacterium phlei (Barbier and Lederer, 1952) and ornithine as the principal nitrogenous component in the phosphatides of several mycobacteria (Gendre and Lederer, 1955), has been reported.…”

“…Bacterial lipids are characterized by the frequent presence of branched-chain acids, of hydroxy acids, of glycolipids, and the presence of large proportions of free fatty acids (Asselineau and Lederer, 1953» I960;Lovern, 1957)• Opinions differ as to the presence of sterols in bacteria. The absence of sterols has been reported by Chargaff (1933) in the diphtheria bacillus (Corymebacterium diphtheria) and by Cmelik (1952) in Salmonella typhi. Crowder and Anderson (1934b), however, identified the crystalline portion of the unsaponifiable matter of Lactobacillus acido philus as cholesterol.…”
