Una revisión de las variaciones recientes de las plataformas de hielo y su efecto en los glaciares tributarios en el sector norte de la Península Antártica (63°S - 70°S)

Abstract

In the context of the average increase in the surface temperature of the planet (which was 0.6±0.2 °C in the 20th century), and the rapid warming of the North of the Antarctic Peninsula (which in the past 50 years has increased about 2.5 °C), emphasis is placed on the direct dependence of the stability of the tributary glaciers depends directly on the collapse of ice shelves, which have suffered a drastic break-up in recent years. In addition, known data of changes in the dynamics of the tributary glaciers is compared with recent variations of the platforms, along with discussing the primary mechanisms that affect in the collapse of platforms and the subsequent acceleration and thinning of adjacent glaciers.
