“…Other studies focus on the entrepreneurial innovation ecosystem, showing the relationship between the institutional context (Autio et al, 2014; Acs et al, 2018; Wei, 2022), cultural context (Chandna and Salimath, 2020; Canestrino et al, 2023), social innovation ecosystems (Audretsch et al, 2022), innovation ecosystems, and social capital (Bandera and Thomas, 2019). Again, other studies investigate the EE, based on a dynamic models perspective, to explore the interplay within fintech EE (Alaassar et al, 2022), the sustainability of EE in knowledge‐intensive enterprises (Aliabadi et al, 2019), dynamic life cycle model of EE (Cantner et al, 2021), understanding of EE using complex adaptive systems theory (Roundy et al, 2018; Daniel et al, 2022), and to analyze of industrial structure distortion and urban ecological efficiency from a green perspective of EE (Zhao et al, 2020). Another group of studies that explores the entrepreneurship ecosystems adopts a digital perspective, namely, digital and spatial affordances (Autio et al, 2018), global digital platform (Acs, 2022), digital transformation and technology (Song et al, 2022; Zhang et al, 2022), collective intelligence in restructuring the entrepreneurial process (Elia et al, 2020), artificial intelligence (Cetindamar et al, 2020), smart cities (Sarma and Sunny, 2017; Mitra et al, 2022), and digital innovation management for EE (Endres et al, 2022).…”

“…Daniel et al (2022) demonstrate how the theory of complex adaptive systems and EE can be developed to generate an integrative framework for understanding EE, encompassing dynamic and diverse actors and interdependences. The authors adjust some components common to complex adaptive systems and suggest a context‐specific framework for clarifying EE through people, place, purpose, and process to provide insights for policy, development, and regulatory interventions.…”

“…Ecosystems literature recognises that innovation processes in these regions involve a collective effort of various actors working within particular institutional arrangements (Gifford et al, 2021), and public policies shape such institutional arrangements. Therefore, it is no surprise that policymakers show great interest in ecosystem concepts because they offer a more holistic and integrated guide for entrepreneurial and innovation activities (Daniel et al, 2022).…”

“…Ecosystem-based and profit-oriented complex systems also play a significant role in promoting economic growth and competitiveness, because they function in a specific context and are able to adapt to the dynamically evolving competitive landscape without a need for continuous centralised coordination and control [9][10][11][12]. While such systems can be regarded as self-organising complex adaptive systems, where the role of leadership is not confined to the central figure of network coordinator but is dispersed across many agents of the system, the development of such systems cannot rely on traditional hierarchical, linear and reductionist management approaches.…”
