Uniaxial and Coaxial Nanofibers PCL/Alginate or PCL/Gelatine Transport and Release Tamoxifen and Curcumin Affecting the Viability of MCF7 Cell Line

Abstract: Breast cancer is the second cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The search for therapeutic and preventive alternatives has increased in recent years. One synthetic drug for patients with hormone receptor-positive tumours is tamoxifen citrate (TMX). Curcumin (Cur) is a natural compound that is being tested. Both were coupled with nanoscale-controlled and sustained release systems to increase the effectiveness of the treatment and reduce adverse effects. We produced a controlled release system based on uni… Show more

“…PCL particles (20 wt %) were added into the mixed solution of dichloromethane and methanol (volume ratio of 1:1) and stirred for 6 h until completely dissolved according to a previous work. 25 Then, the Gel@Ze@PDA mixed solution and the PCL solution were separately placed in two parallel troughs connected with a voltage of 80 kV, and the distance was 23 cm. Thus, the two-layer membrane was obtained from the receiving end by electrospinning in turn, wherein a pure cotton non-woven fabric was used as the substrate.…”

“…S4(c) (ESI †). 70 However, according to the XRD data of PCL/Alg, its microstructure was mostly similar to PCL because of the presence of similar diffraction peaks. This proves that Alg chains were encapsulated within PCL molecules.…”

“…Nanofibers have attracted considerable massive attention and emerged as novel nanomaterials due to potential physicochemical properties, surfactant free and, commercial potential [ 1 , 2 ]. Their advanced applications can be attributed to the ability to form network of highly porous mesh with notable interlinking amongst pores [ 3 ].…”
