Universal Chemiluminescence Flow-Through Device Based on Directed Self-Assembly of Solid-State Organic Chromophores on Layered Double Hydroxide Matrix

Abstract: In this work, a universal chemiluminescence (CL) flow-through device suitable for various CL resonance energy transfer (CRET) systems has been successfully fabricated. Highly efficient CRET in solid-state photoactive organic molecules can be achieved by assembling them on the surface of layered double hydroxides (LDHs). We attribute these observations to the suppression of the intermolecular π-π stacking interactions among aromatic rings and the improvement of molecular orientation and planarity in the LDH mat… Show more

“…As a result, the fluorescence lifetime and quantum yield of fluorescence dyes would increase when they were assembled on the surface of LDHs. 32,33 The successful improvements of FRET and CRET in the LDH matrix inspirits us to construct an efficient ERET process by layer-by-layer (LBL) electrostatic assembly of CoAl−LDH nanosheets with some ECL molecules (i.e., ERET donors and acceptors). However, the ERET with LDH nanosheets have not been established yet.…”

“…Thus, the detrimental effect of nitrite on environment and human health makes its monitoring of utmost importance in public health and food industries. Although various analytical methods like spectrophotometry , chemiluminescence , capillary electrophoresis and chromatography have been developed for determination of nitrite, electrochemical methods gained wide attention due to their portability, low‐cost, specificity and sensitivity in real‐time analysis. In addition, electrochemical methods do not require any expensive instruments with time‐consuming and laborious procedures.…”

“…Spectrophotometry is another method in the National Standard for analysing nitrite, it is simple and suitable for batch sample analysis, but the method sensitivity needs improvement and the chromogenic reagent commonly used has a some toxicity. Chemiluminescence (CL) based on the microfluidic chip is also an effective way for the sensing nitrite, but this option is reagent‐ and time‐consuming when needed for large quantities of data. The other widely studied method is electrochemistry, which has stability and high accuracy, but the surface treatment of electrodes is somewhat time‐consuming and complicated.…”
