Despite recent improvements in detection and treatment, prostate cancer continues to be the most common malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Thus, although survival rate continues to improve, prostate cancer remains a compelling medical health problem. The major goal of prostate cancer imaging in the next decade will be more accurate disease characterization through the synthesis of anatomic, functional, and molecular imaging information in order to plan the most appropriate therapeutic strategy. No consensus exists regarding the use of imaging for evaluating primary prostate cancer. However, conventional and functional imaging are expanding their role in detection and local staging and, moreover, functional imaging is becoming of great importance in oncologic management and monitoring of therapy response. This review presents a multidisciplinary perspective on the role of conventional and functional imaging methods in prostate cancer staging.

Bevezetés: A prosztatarák a férfi ak leggyakoribb malignus megbetegedése Európában, amelynek a társadalmi terhe is jelentős. Célkitűzés: Az elmúlt 10 évben megjelent, regisztereken alapuló, prosztatarák betegségterhével foglalkozó közlemények szisztematikus áttekintése és a betegséghez kapcsolódó költségeket meghatározó tényezők elemzése. Módszer: A szerzők Medline-keresést végeztek angol nyelvű folyóiratokban a 2003. január 1. és 2013. október 1. közötti időszakra. Eredmények: Tizenöt peer-reviewed folyóiratban megjelent közlemény került beválogatásra. A fejlett országokban a legnagyobb költségtétel a sugárkezelés, a sebészi kezelés és a hormonális terápia volt. Az egy betegre jutó éves terápiás költség Európában a korai stádiumú (4-7 ezer €, 2006), az Egyesült Államokban pedig a metasztatikus prosztatarák (19,9-25,5 ezer $, 2004) esetén volt magasabb. A terápiás fázisok szempontjából Euró-pában a kezdeti terápia (6,4 ezer €/6 hónap, 2008), az Egyesült Államokban pedig a végstádium (életkortól füg-gően: 62,2-93,4 ezer $, 2010) egy betegre jutó éves költségei voltak magasabbak. Következtetések: Viszonylag kevés szakirodalom áll rendelkezésre a prosztatarák betegségterhével kapcsolatosan Európában. Egyre növekvő népegész-ségügyi jelentősége ellenére hazánkban nem rendelkezünk ilyen adatokkal. Orv. Hetil., 2014, 155(13), 509-520.
