“…The association between SBC and cementoosseous dysplasia in the maxilla may be explained by the theory about changes in bone metabolism (Chadwick, Alsufyani, & Lam, 2011;Magliocca, Edwards, & Helman, 2007;Mathew et al, 2012;Mupparapu et al, 2008;Suei et al, 2007;Velez et al, 2010), given that cemento-osseous dysplasia is characterized by replacement of normal bone with excessive proliferation of fibrous connective tissue. For this reason it is suggested that blockage of interstitial fluid drainage caused by fibro-osseous proliferation may be the cause of SBCs.…”
