Urban Form Elements and Urban Potentiality ( Literature Review)

Abstract: Morphological theories shape the leading platform to theoretically and practically consider the assets connected with the emergence of the city, and its growth and development over time. In this paper, five elements of the urban form are typified: structure/tissue, plot, building, block, and the street pattern will be addressed. “…Teknik pembacaan morfologi perkotaan merupakan metode yang tepat dalam membaca bentuk perkotaan (Sanders, 2013). Variabel bentuk perkotaan sangat beragam, antara lain: ekonomi, distribusi pekerjaan, kepadatan, sirkulasi, tata guna lahan, desain lingkungan, hingga pola pembangunan (Al-Saaidy, 2020;Dempsey dkk., 2010;Han dkk., 2020;Sharifi & Yamagata, 2018;Živković, 2019). Menurut Chen (2014), ilmu morfologi perkotaan merupakan studi tentang bentuk perkotaan yang berfokus pada pembentukan dan transformasi bentuk perkotaan kota, kabupaten, dan desa dari waktu ke waktu.…”

“…The street edge works through three soft filters: Constitutedness, permeability and intervisibility. The urban micro-level scale is an essential aspect when examining the physical setting and understanding the critical interrelationship between private and public spaces [1], [2]. This mutual relationship between two domains controls the soft edge and helps to manage the main interaction between people and the streetscape, which, in turn, helps to promote street life and social interaction.…”
