Mental comfort for any individual is an important factor on the way to achieving one's goals and objectives. Based on research focused on young people, and conducted in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, physical activity positively affects mental comfort and is one of the social preventive measures for maintaining mental comfort. Thus, designing spaces dedicated to young people has become a common social interest. The purpose of the article was to identify criteria for locating recreational and leisure centers for young people. For the purposes of the study, a detailed literature review was conducted, following which the most relevant locational features were listed, defining criteria for evaluating their location. In addition, a keyword co-occurrence network was developed using VOSviewer software. The research was conducted on the basis of the Scopus database. The presented review highlighted the lack of comprehensive studies on the analysis of the location of youth recreation and leisure centers, which is definitely a gap that needs to be filled. Taking such a study into consideration when conducting planning work would certainly be a valuable effort to help creating a friendly urban infrastructure and an effective network of services.

Climate change adaptation activities planning and implementation in large cities: results of research carried out in Poland and selected European cities

Continuous climate change forces cities to take actions to prevent risks and adapt urban spaces to new conditions. The experience of many European cities in recent years shows that actions adapting urban space to climate change have become an important part of local policy. The subject of the article is the adaptation activities planned and implemented for climate change in urban spaces. The purpose of this article is to classify and identify adaptation activities carried out in large cities. The authors analyzed data from 44 Polish cities and placed them in the context of leading adaptation activities carried out in selected European cities. The purpose of the detailed research is to compare the number and type of activities planned and implemented on the scale of individual Polish cities, indicating dominant and minority activities. The authors conclude that with the passage of time, climate change adaptation activities will have an increasing impact on shaping the landscape of European cities, including those of Poland. Their number will gradually increase, as will the awareness of the city authorities and the activity of local communities. The types of activity will also change and, with them the quality of urban spaces and the quality of life of residents. The authors also conclude that further research will need to conduct quantitative and qualitative studies in the context of the effectiveness of the adaptation process in urban spaces, resulting from the evaluation and monitoring of both systematically updated planning and strategic documents and implemented spatial programs and interventions.

The article discusses current trends in designing green and eco-friendly façades of buildings of different functions in Poland and around the world. Information collected on completed façade projects, associated research and conclusions formulated on the basis thereof, indicate trends and possibilities for the use of contemporary material solutions and technologies in designing various forms of vertical 'greenery’ which support sustainable development of urban areas. The main objective of the research was to identify the most important features of green façades as eco-friendly architectural solutions. A case study with descriptions of the features and qualitative elements of 100 of the most architecturally interesting buildings with characteristic external wall structures was constructed for research purposes. The sites selected for the case study represent a review of global trends. The data was then used for a multi-criteria analysis of green façade systems from the perspective of eco-friendly architectural solutions. The conducted research, analyses and discussions on solutions already in place were then implemented as guidelines for innovative architectural design solutions, which were presented at the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology in the form of selected diagrams and student visualisations. These comprised highly aesthetic compositions, possible to implement in the near future.
