Use of an Automatic Stapling Instrument for the Common Duct Anastomosis in Experimental Liver Transplantation

Abstract: A series of 35 experimental orthotopic liver transplants in pigs was undertaken and the effectiveness of an automatic vascular stapling instrument forcholedochocholedochostomy was assessed. The results were satisfactory in every experiment. There were no complications attributable to leakage or disruption of the anastomosis, and no late stenosis or obstruction in long-time survivors.
