Abstract:Background
Cardiovascular conditions (eg, cardiac and coronary conditions, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and cardiomyopathies) were the leading cause of maternal mortality between 2017 and 2019. The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate of any high-income nation, disproportionately impacting those who identify as non-Hispanic Black or Hispanic.
