Abstract:PC12 cells are a common model system used to study the molecular events underlying neuronal differentiation due to their ability to differentiate into neuronal cells following treatment with nerve growth factor (NGF). NGF induces neuronal differentiation through activation of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway, which in turn activates a transcriptional program leading to up‐regulation of neuronal genes, neurite outgrowth, and establish electrical excitability. Interestingly, treatment with epidermal growth … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
