Using lncRNA Sequencing to Reveal a Putative lncRNA-mRNA Correlation Network and the Potential Role of PCBP1-AS1 in the Pathogenesis of Cervical Cancer

Abstract: Background/AimsLong non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in many diseases and participate in posttranscriptional regulatory networks in tumors. However, the functions of major lncRNAs in cervical cancer are unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to construct a lncRNA-mRNA coexpression functional network and analyze lncRNAs that might contribute to the pathogenesis of cervical cancer.MethodsDifferentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) and mRNAs (DEmRNAs) between three pairs of cervical cancer t… Show more

“…This result reminded us to explore whether anti-ferroptotic genes decreased in SCC tissues similar to SILs. With reanalysis of our previous RNA-seq data [ 18 ], no significant difference was found between cervical cancer tissues and adjacent tissues (Fig. 2E ).…”

“…Transcriptomic and lncRNA-mRNA correlation analysis showed PCBP1-AS1 as a novel prognostic biomarker for CC. The elevated expression of PCBP1-AS1 is associated with tumor stage, TNM and invasion [ 60 ]. A recent study integrating the data of DNA methylation, copy number variation (CNV) and transcriptome to identify CNV-related lncRNAs for CC prognosis prediction have developed a 8-lncRNA (RUSC1-AS1, LINC01990, LINC01411, LINC02099, H19, LINC00452, ADPGK-AS1, C1QTNF1-AS1) signature with high AUC independent of clinical features, providing novel prognostic biomarkers for CC [ 61 ].…”

“…For the past few years, high-throughput transcriptome sequencing has become extremely usual, revealing that up to 70% of the human genome has been transcribed (9). Hence, Most of the transcribed genes detected by high-throughput sequencing are non-coding genes, which may be associated with noncoding RNA (lncrnas) longer than 200 nucleotides (10).…”
