Uterine artery Doppler in singleton pregnancies conceived after in‐vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection with fresh vs frozen blastocyst transfer: longitudinal cohort study

Abstract: What are the novel findings of this work? In-vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) pregnancies conceived after frozen blastocyst transfer (FBT), as compared to fresh, have lower uterine artery pulsatility index (UtA-PI) at 7-37 weeks' gestation and a lower rate of small-for-gestational age (SGA). What are the clinical implications of this work? IVF/ICSI pregnancies conceived after FBT and those conceived after fresh blastocyst transfer show different prenatal behavior, probably due to… Show more

“…In addition, only fresh embryos, frozen embryos and days of transplantation were recorded for transplantation, but not blastocyst transplantation, so we were unable to further analyze the results of blastocyst transplantation. Previous studies have found lower uterine artery pulsatility index, proportion of small-for-gestational-age (SGA) [31] decreased risks of preterm \birth and low birth weight babies but a higher risk of large for GA babies as well as hypertensive disorders of pregnancies associated with pregnancies conceived from frozen embryos compared to fresh transfer [32]. While the difference between fresh and frozen embryos needs to be further confirmed by our follow-up studies.…”

“…Ultrasound examinations have a major role as an intraoperative aid for IVF procedures [10,11] and also in the prenatal risk assessment of the resulting pregnancies. This is principally due to uterine artery Doppler studies [7,12,13].…”

“…The multivariable model was adjusted for maternal age, gravidity, parity, prepregnancy obesity (body mass index≥28 kg/m 2 ) [27], birth plurality, and history of previous caesarean section; the results are reported as adjusted odds ratios (aORs) and 95% con dence intervals (CIs). Centiles birthweight were calculated from reference equation of published dataset on similar population and study groups [28,29]. P values of less than 0.05 were considered statistically signi cant.…”

“…Moreover, women with endometriosis exhibit defective deep placentation because of defective remodeling of the spiral arteries [39]. P Cavoretto found that in a longitudinal cohort study of uterine artery Doppler in singleton pregnancies, different uterine arteries perfusion(with lower pulsatility index) occurring in frozen as compared to fresh embryo transfer pregnancy from the rst to the third trimester, related to higher birth weight in frozen as compared to fresh IVF/ICSI [28]. Which may indicate that pregnancy outcomes are affected by uterine arteries prefusion.…”
