Utilization of the Three-Dimensional Model to a Construction Production System

Since, the fireproof coating work has lacked skilled workers, we have developed a fireproof coating spraying robot. In order to grasp the current situation and set the target value of the spraying thickness, the thickness of the fireproof coating sprayed by the skilled worker was measured using a laser scanner and analyzed. It was found that it is efficient to spray with a thickness obtained by adding twice the standard deviation to the specified thickness. Further, spraying the fireproof coating by the robot at the target value satisfied the quality.

During the building construction, contractors are required to measure the completed form and calculate the quantity and are increasingly employing point cloud data for this purpose. Using point cloud data is expected to perform higher productivity than the conventional manual measurement and taking pictures. This paper proposes a new pile center measurement method using point cloud data obtained by Structure from Motion (SfM) and Building Information Modeling (BIM). The efficiency, cost, and accuracy of the proposed approach were investigated compared to the conventional surveying method.
