Utilizing Solar Energy Instead of Fossil Fuels as Domestic Energy (Case Study: Dehloran City, Ilam Province, Iran)

Abstract: Solar energy is the cleanest and the most environmental friendly available power source. The use of solar energy in the recent years has reached a remarkable edge. Solar energy collectors are special kinds of heat exchangers that transform solar radiation energy to internal energy of the transport medium. The main objective of this work is evaluation of the advantages of the solar energy for securing domestic energy in the city of Dehloran, Ilam province, Iran. The mean ambient temperature of this region in th… Show more

“…The amount of forthcoming global radiation (∼2000 (kWh/m 2 )/year) in Iran and other countries near the equator, such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia, is highest globally. Hosseini and Hosseini [111] studied a case study in Dehloran city located in the west of Iran to show how to utilize solar energy instead of gas and oil resources. Mostafaeipour et al [112] studied the possibility of using solar energy in several regions of Iran.…”

“…As seen from the figure, the peak solar intensity differs from month to month, showing a highest value of 791 W/m 2 in April. For statistically analyzing the availability of the solar insolation at a given location, probability distribution models are being widely used (Hosseini and Hosseini, 2012). Some of the distributions used for characterizing the prevailing solar insolation are Normal Distribution (Kudish andIanetz, 1996, Chang, 2010), Boltzmann Distribution (Akuffo andBrew-Hammond, 1993, Joaquin, 2008) (Chang, 2010) and Logistic Distribution (Lauret et al, 2012).…”

“…To solve the water shortage problem, freshwater supply capacity must be increased. [ 6 ] Fortunately, recent research on freshwater production offers hope for alleviating global water scarcity. Desalination technology is the preferred solution for obtaining fresh water in terms of both its production cost and the source of its water resources.…”
