Utopia at Five Hundred: Satish Kumar, a Utopian

Abstract: Inspired by the five hundredth commemorative anniversary of Thomas More's Libellus vere aureus, nec minus salutaris quam festivus, de optimo rei publicae statu deque nova insula Utopia (1516), this article reflects on the life of environmentalist and peace campaigner Satish Kumar. Several of Kumar's key beliefs are elucidated so as to highlight how he engages in utopian praxis to promote peace, understanding, and ecological sustainability. The article concludes by reiterating the need for utopian thinking.
