Vacuum-assisted closure with a portable system for treatment of poststernotomy mediastinitis

Abstract: The patient was a 50-year-old man with diabetes who was on insulin. Complications of mediastinitis developed after coronary bypass surgery, which had been performed for unstable angina. Upon hospital admission, the patient was treated with antibiotics, and the wound was cleaned on a daily basis.
